My life in artificial culture

So I finished LoK season 1 today and I thought the ending was a tad anticlimactic.  Korra’s emergence of airbending after she lost her other powers felt odd.  Once she lost her bending how could she bend air? It felt like a video game like she leveled up and unlocked a skill or something! Though Amon’s death was majorly shocking especially for a Nick cartoon. Murder suicide? INTENSE. It should’ve been at least an hour long episode; Aang’s short appearance at the end didn’t help either. It was Korra’s first avatar ancestor meeting and didnt get the due it deserved.

It’s still good though and I’m looking forward to season 2! But I need more flashbacks!!!!!!!!!

So I’m really curious what the critics behind the Ros scene in “The Climb,” think of tonight’s episode “The bear and the maiden fair.”

Here’s a few points:
-This is a TV show set in an incredibly violent world. If you didn’t figure this out before season 3 you’re pretty daft. Case in point: Early season 2 when Joffrey FORCES Ros to beat her fellow companion and it’s clearly SHOWN. Where were you then?
-“Only male characters do the torturing” NO. Cersei actually orders the  torture of a character, who was completely indifferent to the “game”, in a Feast for Crows, and attempts to imprison Margaery and her cousins through vile, similar methods. If the show continues with the book storyline then you’ll see it in season 5, and the torture scene is very brutal in its own right. Oh yeah spoilers. SORRY NOT SORRY.
-Theon’s torture is far from over, and YES his castration is HEAVILY implied in two distinct scenes in ADWD.  Especially the Jeyne Poole post marriage scene with Ramsay and “Reek.” Stop saying, “it wasn’t in the books.”
-The show is an “adaptation.” Adaptation doesn’t mean a “word for word” copy. Take a class on narrative, trust me it makes the show easier to watch.
-You’re all going to flip your shit after episode 9 this season, and if everything goes as planned, episode 9 next season.  NO ONE IS SAFE. Stop expecting them to be.
-I’m high off feels so I can’t summarize my thoughts properly right now. Don’t feel and blog at the same time.

Finally catching up on Legend of Korra and here are my thoughts:

-Tarlokk is a dick
-Pobu is adorable, and more entertaining than Korra’s polarbear dog which I find extremely boring.
-How did Appa have kids? I thought Appa was the only skybison left?
-Tenzin’s kids are hilarious; totally have traits of Aang (something that the show is missing with the new Team Avatar)
-Was thoroughly shocked at the origin of Amon’s power in episode 3. Powers provided by the spiritworld?!
-I love Steve Blum as a Voiceover actor, but his voice sounds nearly the same in every role he plays. Wish they would’ve picked someone different/new.
-Seems firebending is Korra’s go to style compared to Aang and his affinity with airbending. You would think Korra’s go to style would be waterbending (outside of pro-bending)
-Still confused on the rules of Pro-bending, mainly what determines a round and what exactly constitutes as a winning play (Simultaneous KO, etc.)
-Korra it is episode 9, learn some damn airbending!
-Used to be a Korra/Bolin shipper, but now I don’t want her with either.
-Bolin needs to marry me.  Loved Sokka, but he could be a tad grating, Bolin is a calmer version.  A little bro-ish but totally sweet and cute.
-Would really like an update on the other nations.
